PC_2025_R_06 - Public consultation to amend the REMIT market participant registration format and the CEREMP platform
Contact information
Overview
The Regulation on Wholesale Energy Market Integrity and Transparency (REMIT) is the EU framework that protects consumers and businesses from energy market manipulation and insider trading.
Under REMIT, all market participants must register with the national regulatory authority in the country where they operate. Each regulator is responsible for establishing and maintaining a national register of market participants.
At EU level, ACER manages the European register of market participants, which is publicly available through the Centralised European Register of Energy Market Participants (CEREMP) platform and collects Member States’ national registers.
Why we are consulting
Market participants must register before entering into reportable transactions and promptly update their registration data when changes occur. To support this process and ensure consistent data collection across the EU, ACER established a common registration format in 2012.
To keep up with evolving regulatory and technical requirements (including the 2024 revision of REMIT), ACER plans to update both the registration format and the CEREMP platform.
This public consultation aims to gather stakeholders’ feedback on possible amendments and help inform ACER’s decision-making.

Next steps
The consultation runs from 1 to 29 October 12 November 2025 (deadline has been extended on 28 October).
Based on the input received, ACER will assess whether to:
- Update the REMIT registration format. This update would require already registered market participants to amend specific fields in their registration.
- Update the public European Register of market participants.
- Implement changes to the CEREMP platform, depending on technical feasibility. If confirmed, these changes will not go live before late 2026.
