Workshop UIC

What is it about?

For the past year, ACER, together with PwC consultancy, has been working on the analysis of projects’ costs for various energy infrastructure assets. On 12 July 2023, ACER published its second report on unit investment costs (UIC) indicators and corresponding reference values for energy infrastructure projects. The key outcomes will be presented at the workshop.

The objectives of this workshop are to:

  • Present the ACER work on UIC indicators and data collection exercise;
  • Present UIC indicators and their reference values;
  • Informally consult the stakeholders on the use of UIC indicators; and
  • Present foreseen UIC indicators for new infrastructure categories (such as large-scale electrolysers, electric batteries, hydrogen pipelines).

Background:

ACER collected information about costs and technical details of various energy infrastructure projects that have been commissioned in the recent years.

Based on review of existing studies, UIC indicators have been identified for new infrastructure categories (such as large-scale electrolysers, electric batteries, hydrogen pipelines).

As expected, the analysis shows an increase in UIC for most of the existing energy infrastructure assets compared to the 2015 UIC Reports (electricity infrastructure report and gas infrastructure report).
