What is it about?

The EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) and the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) will host a joint workshop to discuss the FUNC issue: how to ensure greater flexibility to book firm capacity at interconnection points (IPs), as well as its possible solutions.

Context:

The FUNC issue was reported by the European Federation of Energy Traders (EFET) who has proposed to make firm IP capacity more readily available to shippers by enabling Transmission System Operators (TSOs) to offer it for sale in uniform price allocation (UPA) auctions (outside the auction timetable dates envisaged by the Network Code on Capacity Allocation Mechanisms).

To further assess the issue and collect additional input, a public consultation took place from December 2020 until March 2021. Following the public consultation, ACER and ENTSOG have been analysing the responses and discussing possible solutions.

About the workshop:

The aim of the workshop is to collect further input and feedback from stakeholders on potential solutions.

Speakers include:  ACER, ENTSOG, EFET as well as Booking Platform representatives.

Other stakeholders will have the opportunity to intervene during the workshop: flag your interest when registering to the event!

ACER and ENTSOG particularly encourage stakeholders from the shippers’ community to participate.
